About the Artist
During this weeks SOA Galleries I got the pleasure of meeting Daniel Bonilla- Vera sadly Daniela Banuelos was not able to present but Daniel was able to explain their work they did. Daniel is from Central Valley he moved to attend college at CSULB. He is an undergraduate Studio Art Major and he wants to pursue his career in Photography. He began to be interested in photography ever since he was in high school. He also mentioned that both him and Dalia were rejected from the BFA program.
In their gallery they used black string across the room to connect all of the pictures together. In the middle of all of the pictures connected to the yarn was a figure huddled down on the floor covering their head which was supposed to be a representation of them. The way the room was displayed and set all together gave a significant meaning toward the art pieces.
In this art gallery we can feel the mood as being frustration because both were rejected from the BFA program Danlia was rejected twice from the program and Daniel was rejected once and has one last chance to get into the BFA program. Their work contained black and white pictures connected with black string that looks like a spider web the strings leads to a gold trash can which shows that the are tired of their art being called trash.
Synthesis/ My experience
When I walked into the Gallery I felt a dark and negative vibe. I was really impressed as to how the art gallery was displayed I could clearly understand what they were trying to tell us and it showed us their frustration they were feeling towards being rejected from the BFA program.
